The Beagle Pub

Postby tryptophan on Sun Jan 09, 2005 11:22 pm

I was just wondering if we have a specific thread for talking about anything, and I mean anything. Just sitting down and having a free flowing conversation without restrictions from being off topic. If we do, somebody can erase this thread and restart the old one. If not, I would like it to be this thread.

So, come on in, warm up, order a strong drink (or just water, if that's how you feel  ). This is the Beagle Pub: a place to talk about anything.

Welp! By the end of the week it's finally gonna start to feel like Winter again here in Florida. I am so happy. 82 degrees in January just isn't normal! :shakehead:

HAHA I read the title as Beagle Pup and I thought someone got a new puppy. I was excited about seeing puppy pictures.

Have you seen that camera commerical with the little girl that keeps saying "puppies! more puppies!" ? If so, I am so that little girl!

82 in January? My goodness!

It's been quite cold here. Highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s.

But anyway, I should be doing something worthwhile. This addiction is getting out of hand. :(

Its been in the 80s a lot so far this month too. The past few days have been cooler, in the 60s. But it freaks me out thinking 80 in Jan.... really really hot in August!

Having a cigar right now is not fun. I smoke outside and it's like -30 when the windchill is factored in. blech! It's a good thing I'm a Canuck and one of them northerner Canucks at that. Mike12345 could never handle this, he lives too far south in Canada eh? ;) The worst thing about smoking outside at -30 is gasping in all that cold air after you take a drag. Darn near burst your lungs!

But enough about me ... how are you? (Not not you, ---> YOU! yeah you!)

Winter has failed to start here, too. 55-60 degrees, it's supposed to be 30-40. Not that I'm complaining.

We've only had a few days of winter here. Not alot of snow and one day last week it was up in the sixties. But since I am not a cold weather fan I'm loving it!

I did the same thing!!

It is Monday morning here. Did everyone have a good weekend? My sister is in town visiting from Alaska, so I got to spend some time with here. And, of course, I watched the Vikings/Packers game yesterday.

Now we know who all the gals are in there- thinking about puppies.... what kinda silly person am I?

Winter has been odd here. Not that it isn't always, but more so than usual. Two days before Christmas it got cold (40s) then it was back in the 80s. This weekend was cool (60s) but its back in the mid to high 70s today.

Absolutely, I'm having a wonderful Monday so far. But soon, I'm going to be returning to Kirksville for school. I hope this semester turns out okay. I'm taking nothing but science classes, but only one biology course. It's kind of weird. I'm a biology major, yet I generally only take one biology course a semester. Second semester sophomore year I had two, and that's the only year I had more than one (unless I count my Freshman Seminar class as one, which it really doesn't count).

Hmm that is odd. Though come to think of it, I had several semesters without taking a class for my major at all. Not several, but 2. Well 5 if you count the 3 semesters before I transfered to UT.

It sure is! She moved to Alaska a few years ago. I sure miss her! We managed to have dinner together last night and I think we will be able to get together tonight, too. Then back to Alaska she goes - where she says it is much warmer than here!!

I am not much of a sports fan, really. But it seems that the men in my life are all sports fans. So I watch the game just to spend time with the guys...oh well. I jokingly wore a Packers shirt on Sunday. Wouldn't you know I would do that and then the Vikings would actually win!!

I believe that. :) The more inhabited areas of Alaska on the coast are amazingly mild in their weather. Even across the Rocky Mountains on the other side where the Yukon Territory of Canada is, they get some nice warm weather from time to time bia the blessed winds from the ocean! :)

We've had a weird winter here too. One day it's in the 40s, then we have a week of 70s or even 80s. I keep getting sick, every time the weather changes. We actually got some snow on Christmas Eve, but not enough to stick at my house. There were places around here that it did, though.

Alas, no snow, no winter, no puppies, no purple mountain majesties, no fruited plain, just an occasional hop and splash in hopper's pond on a cloudy day. Barkeep, hand this frog a sarsaparilla!

...and a puppy!

Winter hasn't been too bad here so far. It's been fairly mild actually. It snowed a few days ago, but not too much.
